Chandigarh 26 August : The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday, gave its consent to filling 359 vacant positions by direct hiring in various categories of the technical department in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.A spokesperson from the Chief Minister’s Office said that there was a severe shortage of officers and employees in the department, due to which the department’s work has been adversely affected.
These posts, comprising 200 of Agriculture Development Officers, 150 of Sub-Inspectors of Agriculture as well as nine of Laboratory Assistants will be filled without any changes.
The filling of these positions will aid the department in efficient implementation of programs and in the quick and easy delivery of services to farmers.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to fill 80 posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial Magistrate through the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
This decision will accelerate the process of recruiting new Judicial Officers, ensuring rapid dispensation of work in the subordinate courts.
In the meantime, in a bid to provide effective in providing efficient health services in the 582 veterinary hospitals, the Cabinet granted ex-post facto permission for the continued use of the services of service providers including 497 veterinary pharmacists and 498 Class IV or safai sewaks.They are already contracted as a temporary arrangement for one year starting on April 1.
