Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ To Resume Shooting In Sri Lanka

The government has granted permission to restart the shootings of films with a limited crew and a set of guidelines to be followed.Now as per the latest update, Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam‘s much-anticipated film, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, is planning to resume the film’s shooting in Sri Lanka, next month.

An official announcement regarding the film’s schedule will be made in the coming days.
This epic historical drama went on floors in Thailand in December last year and wrapped up the first schedule in January this year.

Though the film had started production back at the start of the year, the COVID-19 crisis put a halt in the film’s schedule.Reportedly, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will be the first big Tamil film to resume shoot post lockdown with minimal crew in October 2020 starting with the Sri Lanka schedule.

Jointly bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam’s own banner Madras Talkies, this big-budget film will be released in two parts and it will be based on the Tamil novel “Ponniyin Selvan” written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, which narrates the story of the Chola Kingdom.

The film features an ensemble cast comprising pan-India actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarat Kumar, Mohan Babu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Vikram Prabhu, and several others in key roles.Keep watching this space for more updates!
