Assam imposes night curfew amid Omicron scare

Guwahati/Agartala 25 Dec : .After the Central government issued alerts in various parts of the country regarding the Omicron version of Covid-19 Omicron, Saturday’s announcement by the Assam government announced an unspecified night curfew in the entire state.
Officials from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that the midnight curfew will be in effect starting at 11.30 pm in the evening and ending at 6 am in the morning in all parts of the state.

To allow New Year-related functions, however, December 31 would be exempted from the midnight curfew.

ASDMA stated that the shops selling groceries, milk and fruits, as well as businesses and commercial establishments will be open until 10.30 pm.

The law stated that open areas for gathering and meeting should be determined by the district authority according to the Covid situation within their districts.

Closed venues allow for gatherings up to 50% of the auditorium’s seating capacity.For religious sites, 60 people must be fully vaccinated per hour to use iconic locations.Other religious places can only have 40.

The cinema halls will continue to be used with 50% of the seating capacity for fully vaccinated audiences and observe Covid-19-appropriate behaviour.Omicron-specific regulations require that all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police are responsible for Covid Appropriate Behavior in public areas for the containment of Covid-19 virus.

According to the statement, district officials would send enough teams to keep an eye on public areas and enforce Covid Appropriate Behaviour in order not for Covid-19 cases.

The Tripura government also alerted people to the existence of the Covid-19 variant.

Tripura Information and Cultural Affairs Minister, Sushanta Choudhury stated that the review meeting held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the week on Omicron variant was concluded.

Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister of Tripura and Chief Secretary Kumar Alok had two meetings to review the state’s readiness.

Chowdhury is the spokesperson for the government and said the Omicron variant has been alerted by the state government.

There was no Omicron variant in Assam or any other Northeastern country.
