New Delhi, Aug 26 : Multinational conglomerate Adani Group on Friday renamed their newly acquired franchise in Legends League Cricket (LLC) as the ‘Gujarat Giants’.
On Thursday, it was announced that the Ahmedabad-headquartered company had bought a franchise in the competition, making this their second investment in T20 leagues after acquiring a franchise in the UAE’s ILT20 named as ‘Gulf Giants’.

“For all of people who have been through various times of cricket There is nothing that ignites our passions more than watching our favorite players returning in action.These are the biggest stars of the game, and there is no doubt that the true base of Legends League Cricket is in India, in our incredible cricket grounds in the midst of our incredible crowds.”

“And we refer to our group of Legends”as Gujarat Giants.This is cricket that is competitive at its highest levels, between teams that are competing for the sake of winning,” declared Pranav Adani Director of Adani Enterprises.

The upcoming season of the Legends Cricket League will be a four-team franchise model making a shift from the three-team model in the last season in which India, Rest of Asia and Rest of the World were the teams.The league had previously announced that the next season of LLC will be specifically devoted to the 75th anniversary celebration of India’s Independence.

The league will be played in India starting on September 16 to the date of the first edition that was hosted at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat in January 2022.The new season will begin with a special game between India against the World as India Maharajas vs World Giants in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

“Adani Sportsline is honored to be able to manage and own one of the four teams in the Legends League.We are particularly privileged because this first season in this format is dedicated to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence.

I can’t wait to watch some of the best cricketers in the history of the game doing what they do best,” added Pranav Adani.

According to an announcement made recently the second season of LLC will start with the special match in Kolkata then followed by matches in Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur.

The Play-offs and the finals are scheduled to take place in Dehradun.In total 15 matches are expected to be played in this season.
