Telangana government is said to be serious against Junior Panchayat Secretaries who are still on protest despite giving ultimatum to attend duties.

Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari has ordered Collectors and Zilla Panchayat officials to collect the details of all Junior Panchayat Secretaries who did not attend their duties by 12 noon on Saturday.

According to the sources, the government has taken strict action against the absent JPS and has made it clear that they are no longer government employees.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the government’s position in a video conference held from the new secretariat on Friday evening with the Collectors of all districts, Additional Collectors (Local Bodies), and District Panchayat Raj Officers (DPOs).She stated that the government had given a clear notice on the 8th of this month, with a deadline to join their duties by 5 pm on the 9th.“As these Junior Panchayat Secretaries failed to comply, their term has ended,” she said.

Shanti Kumari asked the Collectors, Additional Collectors, and DPOs are advised to focus on alternative arrangements in the absent Panchayats.The government suggests identifying and recruiting local youth who have graduated and have computer knowledge as Panchayat Secretaries on a temporary basis.

To ensure the smooth running of Panchayats, Collectors and DPOs are advised to inform the government about the list of Panchayat Secretaries who are not present until 12 noon.The government’s decision will come as a severe blow to those Junior Panchayat Secretaries who were absent from their duties.
