Panaji 27 Aug : A Goa court in Goa on Saturday granted 10 days of police detention of Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, two suspects in the case who were detained in the murder trial of BJP actor and leader Sonali Phogat.They were brought before the Court in Mapusa by the Anjuna Police.
While Sangwan the personal assistant of Phogat, and Singh were detained on Friday, two more – the proprietor of the Curlies restaurant in Anjuna and drug dealer were arrested on Saturday.
Sources say that police officers have interrogated taxi drivers, who were hired by Sangwan and Phogat on their visits to the restaurant as well as other locations in Anjuna.
Following their arrest on Friday, the Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi declared that Sangwan has admitted to the crime and stated that, after arriving in Goa, he along with Singh took Phogat to Curlies under the pretense of having a party and he mixed a noxious chemical in drinking water, and then forced the victim to drink the drink.
Bishnoi has also stated that CCTV footages of relevant locations were analyzed by the investigating officer.
Phogat arrived in Goa on the 22nd of August.He was staying in the hotel in Anjuna.
She began to feel uneasy at night on Monday, and the next day she was transported to the St.Anthony hospital in Anjuna where she was declared dead.
