Kolkata 18 August : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the cabinet meeting on Thursday directed all ministers to go through all files prior to signing their names. The meeting also included she was also able to issue a clear order to all ministers that they should use red beacon-equipped vehicles or pilot-cars, even if they are in official duty, whether in the capital of the state or in other districts.
Cabinet sources told us the chief minister was “extremely at ease” during the time she issued the two directives.
“She also stated she will not take any chances and that she will not be lenient in the event that a minister is found to be in violation of her instructions regarding the use of red beacon-equipped or pilot vehicles,” a senior member of the cabinet said under the basis of anonymity.
It was learned that in the cabinet meeting the chief minister declared that all ministers must consider their positions as serious.”The ministers need to understand their areas of responsibility and should take their responsibilities seriously,” the chief minister was quoted as saying.
She also instructed cabinet ministers to inform state ministers of the state in their respective departments on their duties.
It was learned that during the meeting the chief minister specifically stressed that all cabinet ministers as well as ministers of states should be cautious about maintaining the image of a clean one.
Political analysts believe that the warnings of caution by the chief minister come in the wake of the recent developments concerning Partha Chatterjee.The incident has resulted in a massive embarrassment to the political party in general.
This is why the chief minister has warned the cabinet members in advance.
Sources told us they heard that in the cabinet’s meeting on Thursday, the chief minister even warned one of his cabinet colleagues about the frequent allegations of excessiveness and insensitivity against him.
