New York, Aug 12 : The controversial author Salman Rushdie, whose ‘The Satanic Verses’ prompted threats of death against him, was slapped during his participation in an event in New York state, media reports claimed.Indian-born Rushdie spoke during an event of the Chautauqua Institution when a man came up to the stage and attacked or stabbed him, the BBC reported, citing eyewitnesses.
Rushdie’s health status isn’t known at the moment.
