Kolkata 24 August : Trinamool Congress strongman Anubrata Montdal on Wednesday expressed his gratitude to the party’s supreme figure as well as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the fact that she helped him and declared that she did enough for him.Mondal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the cattle smuggling scheme.
In referring to Mamata Banerjee as Didi (elder sister), he also said that he was overwhelmed by what she did for him.
“Whatever Didi has done for me is enough,” he told newspersons before leaving the CBI’s Nizam Palace office in central Kolkata to go to the court special of CBI in Asansol in West Burdwan district in West Burdwan district, where he is expected to appear in the afternoon of Wednesday.
Mondal was seen for the first time since being arrested by the CBI on August 11th, Mondal was seen interacting with the media personnel waiting for him in an almost relaxed state before heading to Asansol.
If asked about the special court of CBI judge who received an email warning of being charged in an narcotics case in the event that he did not meet the bail request of Mondal, Mondal said he will ask the judge to direct CBI inquiry in the case.
When asked whether there was a possibility of the case getting transferred outside of West Bengal, as demanded by the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, Mondal rubbished that.”Is there any way that allows the case to be transferred to a different location than West Bengal following an individual’s desire? What is the procedure to do that?” he questioned.
The opposition leaders have slammed Mondal’s gesture of gratitude to the chief minister.
State Congress president and Lok Sabha member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stated that it was normal for Mondal to be thrilled by the chief minister’s support for him, particularly after the party’s decision to eject Partha Chatterjee due to her suspected involvement in the WBSSC recruitment fraud.”The chief minister is Mondal’s only hope in the present and therefore he is so happy about her loyalty,” Chowdhury said.
The CPI-M central committee member Sujan Chakraborty said Anubrata Mondal has become a toy of factional politics in the Trinamool Congress, one faction that is led by Mamata Banerjee, the other is led by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.”While Abhishek Banerjee wants to destroy Mondal’s campaign of Mondal, Mamata Banerjee is stepping up with her support for Mondal,” he said.
