Thiruvananthapuram 30 August : Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said that the G-23 is merely an imagining of imagination, and “there is just G-Congress”.Ramesh who together with his top party co-worker Digvijaya Singh, arrived in Chennai to wrap up the planned Bharat Jodo Yatra that will be headed by Rahul Gandhi and scheduled to start at the Tamil Nadu capital of Kaniyakumari on the 7th of September, was speaking with journalists here.
In order to avoid questions relating to the resignation of veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad he declared that the yatra would continue, and that resignations, elections and other such things will occur.
“Those men and women who have quit the Congress after the yatra was announced , are involved in match fixing with the BJP.Personal ambitions could also be involved. Our elections for the organisational elections to choose our party’s President will be held during the yatra is in full swing,” said Ramesh.
“Our party’s election schedule is now out and anyone is eligible to run.Remember that we are the only one in which the President is chosen.Which other party does this. This has nothing to have to do with the yatra since the purpose of this yatra is to expose the social, economic and political ideologies of the BJP.
“Those who are predicting the end of the Congress will be shocked to learn that this yatra is the’sanjeevani’ of our party,” he added.
In the aftermath of the demise of Azad, Singh said he has never quit the party on any basis of ideology.
“People are in the Rajya Sabha for 30 years and then quit, and it’s not founded on any ideology and it’s a result of personal conflicts that splinter. The fight isn’t about ideology.Has he ever spoken about (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi or the RSS? We are fighting conflicting politics that are being practiced in the country as well as the economic policies.99 percent of the population in the country have lost earnings, while one percent has doubled their income,” he said.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra will arrive at the Kerala border on September 11 and comprise 43 Assembly constituencies as well as 12 Lok Sabha constituencies in its 19-day journey of 453 km through the state.
