Moscow 1st of September : Russian President Vladimir Putin paid his last respects to the last Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev on Thursday, since he is not in attendance at the official farewell celebration later this week according to the Kremlin has announced, RT reported.In a conference conversation with reporters, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Putin will not be able to attend the funeral on September 3 of the former Soviet leader due to a strict schedule.
He said that Putin personally paid his tribute to Gorbachev on Thursday, by visiting the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow the place where Gorbachev’s body is at the moment, RT reported.
Peskov said that Gorbachev’s funeral would be conducted in the form of a funeral for the state which means there will be an honor guard of honor and that the state will aid in organizing the farewell ceremony on Saturday.
Gorbachev died at the age of 91 on Tuesday.He was the leader who was last of the Soviet Union and his tenure was marked by the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, and the subsequent dissolution of the USSR.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.
