Coal smuggling scam ED calls Bengal Law Minister Delhi

Kolkata 31 August : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been ordered West Bengal Law Minister, Malay Ghatak in connection with the coal smuggling scheme in the state.He was summoned to its New Delhi office on September 14th.
The General Secretary of the national Trinamool Congress Abhiskek Banerjee must attend the EDC’s Kolkata office on 2 September to be questioned in the fraud.His sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir is expected to be at the agency’s Kolkata office on September 5.

ED sources claimed that this isn’t the first time Ghatak is called by the authorities in the context with the coal smuggling fraud.”This year, he had been summoned twice in the month of February.However, he avoided the summons on the pretext of the Covid-19 issue.It remains to be determined what he does next,” an ED official said.

But, he added, that in the event that he does not respond to the summons this time around the top management of the agency will take a decision to take a drastic step against him.Ghatak was unable to be reached to discuss his remarks since his cell phone was not accessible.
