Panaji 26 August : Panaji, Aug 26 : Goa Police on Friday arrested Sudhir Sangwan, the personal assistant of Sonali Phogat as well with Sukhwinder Singh in the connection with the case of murder of the Haryana BJP leader and TikTok celebrity.Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi, speaking at the press conference on Friday stated that Sangwan has admitted to the crime.
The officer from the police said that, after arriving in Goa, he along with Sukhwinder accompanied Sonali Phogat to Curlie’s Restaurant in North Goa on the pretense of having a party and he (Sangwan) mixed an offensive substance in drinking water and then forced Sonali to drink the water.
“After drinking the water, she was anxious and sick in the restaurant.
Then she was taken by Sangwan and Sukhwinder to the hotel, where they were staying , and later to St Antony’s hospital, Anjuna where she was declared to the grave,” he said.
Police stated that Rinku Dhaka, the brother of Phogat, had claimed in the case that Sonali Phogat was killed by her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan along with Sukwinder Singh with the intention of taking over her property and financial assets, and to end her political career.
Bishnoi confirmed that the matter will be investigated from every angles.
He claimed that CCTV footage of relevant locations was scrutinized by an investigator.
it was discovered that Sudhir was threatening to make Sonali drink something.
“Since the postmortem report hasn’t stated the exact cause of death, it will be available only after a chemical examination of viscera, histopathological , and serological tests that would take time to prevent the possibility of loss of evidence and possibly influencing witnesses as well, both Sukwinder and Sangwan were arrested and an investigation is in the process of being completed,” Bishnoi said.
Phogat arrived in Goa on the 22nd of August and was staying in the hotel in Anjuna.
Following she complained of unease the night before, in the morning (on Tuesday), she was taken to St.Anthony hospital in Anjuna about 8 a.m.and there she was declared to death.
