Ellen Biben was the chief administrative judge of the court and granted the motion.

After a two-year investigation, it was found that they didn’t get a fair trial because the New York Police Department (FBI) withheld evidence which would have led to their acquittal.

They were both convicted in 1966 of the murder of Mujahid Abdul Haim and sentenced to life imprisonment.

“I am sorry for the serious and unacceptable breaches of law and public trust.Vance stated that he apologises on behalf of law enforcement officers for decades of injustices which have eroded the public’s faith in institutions designed to ensure equal protection of law.”

Malcolm X was addressing a group at the Audubon Ballroom, New York City on February 21st 1965 when he was shot to death.
