Hubballi, (Karnataka) Aug 11 : Seven teenagers were detained on suspicion of abducting their friend who had won more than 1 million in the game played online in the district of the state.Gareeb Nawaz the kidnapped teen was rescued by the police.
According to the police, upon finding out that Nawaz had won a large sum of winnings in an online contest, his acquaintances Mohammad Arif, Imran, Abdul Kareem, Hussain Saab, Imran M, Toufif and Mohammad Razak hatched a plan to kidnap the player.
The friends-turned-kidnappers made a call to his father and demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom for safe release of the victim.
If Nawaz’s dad refused, they agreed to pay 15 lakh.
The suspect threatened to murder his son in the event that he did not pay.
Following the information the police department constituted four special teams, and then began an investigation.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhuram conducted the investigation and arrested the perpetrators.
