Damascus 25th August : The US Air Force has bombed new locations manned by militias that are who are loyal to Iran in Syria for the second time in 24 hours according to the American military’s Central Command and a monitoring group announced on Thursday.The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the latest airstrikes targeted at posts in the rural area of Deir al-Zour resulted in the murder of three militia fighters backed by Iran according to the news agency dpa.
According to its investigation, US Central Command said there were at least three dead and that the attacks were a reaction to coordinated militia rocket attacks against two American Army facilities in the region just prior to.
On Wednesday on Wednesday, the US Air Force attacked positions in Deir al-Zour.in Deir al-Zour which are controlled by a group made of of Shia fighters from Afghanistan.
The Observatory reported that six victims were killed in the strikes on Wednesday.
“The strike was required to defend and protect US personnel in Syria which was the subject of many recent attacks from militia groups that are backed by Iran,” top Pentagon official Colin Kahl said Wednesday in Washington.
The US soldiers were shot numerous times by militia, he added.
“This operation is a sign (that) that the US will not be afraid to protect itself from Iranian and Iran-backed terrorism when it happens,” Kahl said.
US forces were deployed in Syria in 2015 to aid their allies, notably the Syrian Kurds, in their fight against the Islamic State terror group.
There was no official response from the Syrian government regarding the strikes.
