“I was the Chief Minister of Bihar. Now, I have announced my resignation from the position of Chief Minister” he said.

In response to questions about the conflict between himself and BJP, he left the question unanswered.

Prior to that, speaking at a meeting of legislators of his Janata Dal-United, Nitish Kumar was reported to have made accusations against the BJP in a statement that it was in a conspiracy against him and was seeking to influence JD-U MLAs to join forces against Nitish Kumar.

Sources have said that Nitish Kumar has accused the BJP of “horse trading” and granting certain party leaders lucrative deals to be ministers. He stated that he has evidence of this.

In the meantime, JD-U MLAs have been requested to remain at the residence of the CM.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal also asked MLAs of Mahagathbandhan to remain in the former senior leader and Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s home located at 10 Circular Road until the decision of the Governor is taken.

It is believed that Nitish Kumar is waiting for Bihar’s Governor to invite him to join the government again, given that he has submitted the signatures of his MLAs from his party as well as the signatures of the Mahagathbandhan prior to the Bihar Governor.

Technically it is true that the RJD is the largest group in the Assembly and following Nitish Kumar’s departure, Governor could invite the party’s chief Tejashwi Yadav to lead the government.

However, since Tejashwi Yadav has already provided evidence of the support of Mahagathbandhan MLAs of Mahagathbandhan to Nitish Kumar, he may recommend the name of Nitish Kumar alone.
