New Delhi, Aug 27 : The global shipment of hardcopy peripherals fell 3.9 percent (on-year) to 22 million units in the second quarter of 2022, as per an analysis.Hardcopy peripherals can include single-function printers multifunctional systems (MFPs) and single-function digital copiers.
The value of the shipment fell 5.3 percent year on last year in the quarter, reaching $9.6 billion, as per new figures from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
IDC anticipates that shipments in the coming year to be uneven across the majority of sectors, with significant amounts of new products being used to fill back orders or tenders, rather than for the development of new business.
As a percentage of regional markets, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan and China) and China outperformed all other regional markets in the world.
“On the top of that logistics and supply issues also saw improvement over the last few quarters.
HP was the top market player with 39.6 percent of the market with 8.7 million units sold and was being followed by Canon at 20.1 percent and Epson with 17.6 percent market share.
Canon reported a 10 percent growth globally with over 4.4 million units sold.
Canon’s supply overall was higher in 2Q22 for printers that use 4-in-1 cartridges over 3-in-1 ink tank printers.There were also new commercial models released in 2Q22 and Canon was hoping to use inkjet to fill in the gaps that was left because of the end of earlier models.
