Kilometer-long ‘Tiranga Yatra’ taken out in Himachal

Shimla 15 Aug, Shimla : A kilometer-long Tiranga Yatra was escorted from Palampur’s Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Maidan to Shaheed Smriti Sthal in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district to mark the ‘Azadi-Ka-Amrit Mahotsav to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
The yatra’s inaugural ceremony was attended by Legislative Assembly Speaker, Vipin Singh Parmar on Sunday.

Rajya Sabha member Indu Goswami was the chief of the yatra held under the joint supervision of Bharatiya Jan Sewa Santha, Insaf Sanstha, Geeta Peeth Sanstha and Om Mangalam Sanstha.

Over 1,000 students from 24 schools took part in the 1.025 meters long march.

In addition to the students, the locals were also involved in the yatra.

People along the route poured flowers to the procession in various points.

On the day, tributes were made to the monuments of martyrs and freedom fighters.

Speaker Parmar said it was an act of satisfaction and honor to be a participant in the historic Tiranga Yatra.He felicitated the four organizations for organizing the Yatra.

He advised the District Collector Kangra to make a suggestion to have the yatra recorded in the Limca Book of Records.

Parmar claimed Parmar said that Palampur is the place of heroes, along with Dev Bhoomi.

He claimed that many heroes, including martyrs like Major Som Nath Sharma Captain Vikram Batra Captain Saurav Kalia Major Sudhir Walia, and many more achieved martyrdom.

He encouraged teachers to educate students of the sacrifices of freedom fighters, martyrs , and incredible men of the country , so that they are aware about the past of their country and also develop an appreciation of patriotic feeling.

In the meantime MP Indu Goswami claimed that the Tricolor is the pride of the nation and a emblem of unity in the diversity of the country.

She felicitated the four organizations and stated that it was an admirable effort that must be recorded in the Limca Book of Records.
