New Delhi, Sep 1 : After the former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda met Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress leaders have demanded action against the two for their actions that go against party’s lines since Azad has criticized Gandhis which did not go well with the party’s top leaders, especially the supporters.
Former president of Congress’ Haryana unit, Kumari Selja has written an email to the state’s in-charge Vivek Bansal requesting action while Virendra Vashisht secretary of Indian Overseas Congress has written to the Disciplinary Committee, sources said.

But, Hooda on Thursday clarified his motive for his meeting with Azad.

Prithviraj Chavan, Anand Sharma and Bhupinder Singh Hooda have on Tuesday had a meeting with Azad who has quit the party and is scheduled to hold his first public gathering in Jammu on the 4th of September.

In as a “courtesy” phone call, Hooda said they all got together because they’ve been friends for many years and had discussed various issues.

“We were asking him to explain why he decided to quit,” he stated.

The process of determining the Congress president’s election has been thrust into the spotlight after some leaders have questioned the lack of availability of electoral rolls in the public domain.

Two Congress leaders, Manish Tewari and Karti Chidambaram, on Wednesday asked the Congress’ Central Election Authority which is headed by Madhusudan Mistry to release the electoral rolls and accessible through the Congress website.

However the CEA stated that the rolls will be accessible to candidates who are running for elections.

Tewari as well as Karti Chidambaram had expressed concerns about the way in the way that the party’s president’s poll was conducted.

In a tweet, Chidambaram had said: “Every election requires a well specified and clearly defined electoral college.The procedure of creating the electoral college must be clear, well-defined and transparent.A ad-hoc electoral institution is not an electoral college.”

Anandpur Sahib MP Tewari too has raised doubts about the electoral rolls in advance of the party president’s election The MP has said that the rolls should be published to ensure a fair and free elections.
