Kolkata 8 August : The state-run SSKM Medical College & Hospital on Monday denied admission to Trinamool Congress strongman and party’s Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal.Disregarding Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summons to question in the context with the case of cattle smuggling, Mandal reached SSKM for medical examination.
However the medical board, which is comprised of seven members after a thorough examination of Mandal determined that there is no reason to have him admitted to a hospital.
“There is no reason to admit that he is suffering.His issues are ongoing in the nature.There is no reason to believe that he is stressed,” said Saroj Mandal who is a member of the medical board of seven members which conducted the medical test.
The CBI on Monday, had sent an email to Anubrata Mandal, asking him to attend the bureau’s Nizam Palace office in central Kolkata after the conclusion of the medical exam.
But, Mandal ignored that e-mail as well.
Moreover, at SSKM, he first reached his home in Chinar Park in the northern outside of Kolkata and, after that, he headed towards his family’s ancestral home in Birbhum.
As he was getting out of the SSKM the relatives of the patients in the hospital scolded Mandal and declared: “There goes the cattle thief.”
However neither Mandal nor any of the others who were with him expressed any reaction.
To remember, on August 2 the 2nd, Partha Chatterjee, who was named in the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment fraud, was taken to ESI Hospital at Joka in the southern part of Kolkata, one woman who visited the at the same hospital and threw her slipper in his direction.
However, the shoe-laces thrown by the woman didn’t strike the former minister.
To be reminded medical report of SSKM Hospital had always been the main tool used by Mandal to stay clear of CBI summons to be questioned.
In the past, in Partha Chatterjee’s case Justice Bibek Chaudhuri voiced doubts regarding the reliability of SSKM in these prominent cases.The same SSKM Medical College and Hospital has refused admission to Anubrata Mandal.
