Kathmandu 5 August : In the of the midst of the growing tensions between China and Taiwan following the trip of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Nepal’s foreign minister Narayan Khadka is visiting China from the 9th to the 11th of August the Nepali Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.
At the request of Chinese State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Dr Khadka is in China from August 9-11 The ministry said.

Both Ministers are scheduled to have bilateral talks and will lead the respective delegations on the 10th of August in Qingdao, China.

Wang is expected to host a dinner in honor of Khadka and other other members of the delegation, according to the statement.

The visit will take place just days following the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, issued an announcement in Kathmandu regarding Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan calling it a grave violation of the one-China policy and praises Nepal’s dedication to one-China policies.

“We are convinced that Nepal will remain committed to the one-China principle.We will also accept China’s righteous and justified position, and cooperate with China to protect the sovereignty security, territorial, and integrity.”

“China greatly appreciates Nepal’s long-standing dedication to the one-China principle and steadfast opposition to Taiwan Independence.’ This is the basis for political relations of relations between Nepal and China.We are confident that the Nepali government of Nepal and the people of Nepal will continue to adhere to the one-China principle, and will understand and respect China’s just and legitimate position, and cooperate with China to protect the sovereignty as well as security and territorial integrity.” the ambassador added.

Following the announcement the Nepali Foreign Ministry said that it is closely monitoring the changing developments in Taiwan Strait.

“We are keeping a close eye on the most recent developments in Taiwan.We’re committed to the One-China policy.As Nepal is a peaceful nation and we support peace in the world,” said Sewa Lamsal, Foreign Ministry spokesperson, on Friday during the regular briefing for journalists.”Both Nepal and China support each in their sovereignty as well as territorial integrity and independence.”
