Gurpatwant Pannun (SFJ spokesperson) has urged Punjabi farmers to “gherao” Parliament in a video message. He also offered USD 1.25 million as a reward for raising “Khalistani” and “saffron flags” above the Parliament building.

IANS was informed by top Delhi Police officers that strict security arrangements had been made.”On such occasions (Parliament Sessions), we become more vigilant.A senior police official stated that we increase our visibility, presence, and checking to counter any threat.

A heavy police presence could be observed in and around Parliament buildings.

Notably, in July 2019, the Centre had banned SFJ, which pushes for Sikh Referendum 2020.This was part of its separatist agenda.

Capt Amarinder Singh, the then Chief Minister of Punjab, described it as the first step in protecting the nation against the anti-Indian and secessionist plans and design of the ISI-backed organization.

SFJ had also announced that it would give away USD 2.5 million to the person who flies the flag atop the Red Fort in Delhi at the beginning of the year.On the same day, thousands of farmers protesting against the agricultural reform laws broke the security cordons at Delhi’s borders and entered Delhi in an unsuccessful attempt to reach the Rajpath for their tractor march.

However, hundreds of protesters managed, in violation of police security, to enter Red Fort and plant a religious and farm union banner on the pole where Tricolour is raised on Independence Day.

After a year of protests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that three controversial farm laws would be repealed. The Centre has announced that it will repeal the farm laws by the beginning of the winter session.
