Mumbai, December 25, : .Maharashtra reported two new Covid-19 Omicron cases on Saturday.

The state count jumped to 110 as the state implemented a string of restrictions, including prohibitory orders that ban assembly of five or more people between 9 p.m.ET and 6 a.m.starting this evening.
Both of the new cases are Aurangabad residents and are fully vaccinated.

One had recently traveled to Dubai and the other was a recent traveler.All incoming passengers will be subject to increased health screening.

According to the state health department, while one patient is 50 years old, the other one is 33.One has mild symptoms, and one is more severe.

Since December 1, intensive surveillance has been in place for passengers who arrive at three international airports, namely Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur.

24922 travelers have arrived from high-risk countries.153 of them have been positive, 55 have come from other countries.All their reports have been sent to genomic sequencing for confirmation that they have Omicron.

Officials from the Health Department said that 729 field samples collected since November 1, have been submitted for genetic sequencing.The results of 162 are still awaiting them.

Omicron has spread to a large extent in India.There are 46 Omicron cases in Mumbai.

Then there are 41 Omicron cases in Pune.Omicron also occurs in Satara and Osmanabad.Omicron can be found in Pune in 5 and 6 each, as well in Thane in 5, Satara and Osmanabad in 5.2 in Nagpur, Aurangabad in 2, Nagpur, Nagpur, and Buldhana in 1 and 1.

With a 9102-patient count of 9,102, Mumbai, Pune, and Thane remaining at the top of Covid-19, Thane has the highest recovery rate (97.68%).

The state has been subject to a ‘night curfew’ that began at 9 PM on Saturday.This was imposed by the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Western India and Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India.

They have also resented cancellations of festival and New Year events.

This is an enormous disappointment for the industry that has been the most affected by the Covid-19 lockdowns and pandemic.

Pradeep Shetty, HRAWI office bearer for FHRAI, stated that all staffers have been vaccinated and are ready to receive guests.

Police fanned out on the streets, in public places, to enforce the restrictions.

This was happening amid an increase in Omicron and Covid-19 cases.
