New Delhi, Aug 7 : Mohsin Ahmad, an suspected IS member who was detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Delhi’s Batla House, was on Sunday night remanded to a day of NIA custody through a court that was specially appointed in this.Ahmad was brought before the magistrate in charge in Patiala House Courts, by the agency investigating who sought his seven-day detention.He was detained on Saturday.
The NIA stated that the case is linked with multiple states and that they have to bring the suspect to other locations in order to recover of evidence and for the arrest of his assistants.
“Ahmad is a radical and active participant of IS.He was detained because of his participation in the gathering of money to IS from IS sympathisers in India as and from abroad.He was transferring these money to Syria and other countries in the form of cryptocurrency in order to support the work of IS,” the NIA official claimed.
The court however, granted NIA one day of custody and Ahmad will be presented to the main court on Monday.
The NIA has conducted searches in the residence of the suspect in Batla House and in Bihar.He was then arrested in the case related to the online and ground operations of the IS.
The case was filed suo moto by NIA on the 25th of June.
Further investigations in the case were in progress.
