Government employees in the state of Andhra Pradesh voted for YSR Congress Party in big numbers and played a major role in making YS Jagan the Chief Minister in 2019.But now they are regretting their decision as they have been made to suffer.
Their benefits have been stopped, they have to wait to get their monthly salary, and retired government employees don’t even know when their pension amount will be deposited.
For the past 66 days, the employees’ union and JAC have been holding peaceful demonstrations against the AP government fighting for their demands.
The striking employees say that the government hasn’t bothered to address any of the issues put forth by government employees.
Speaking about the situation, AP Joint Action Committee chairman Bopparaju on Sunday said that the government employees faced a variety of problems and that they needed to be resolved.
He added that despite repeated requests, the government was not addressing their concerns.The employees further added that they will now intensify their stir and take up the “MLAlaku, MPlaku Avedana Chebudam” program wherein they will meet MLAs and MPs to talk about their problems.
The agitating employees stated that about 13 lakh government employees were facing problems of different types and further alleged that attempts were being made to generate bad blood among the employees.They said they will continue with their strike and will protest in phases between May 17 and May 30.After May 30, they say they will take further steps to intensify the ongoing strike.
