Dubai 5 Sep : A stylish batter Virat Kohli recalled when he quit the Test captaincy in January 2022 following the game against South Africa and said that the former Indian captain MS Dhoni was the only person who texted him following his decision. “When I resigned as captain of the Test team I received a text from a single person I had played with before and that’s MS Dhoni,” Kohli declared in an interview with media after the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan on Sunday.
“Many individuals have my contact number and there are a lot of people who are constantly offering suggestions on television and I didn’t get an email from one of them.If an interaction with anyone is genuine it will be revealed in the way you would expect as there is a feeling of security for both parties.
“Neither do I expect anything from him nor does he would like to receive anything from me.I was never insecure of him and neither did he uneasy of me in any way,” Kohli added.He further stated that if someone were actually keen in helping him and wanted to help, they should have contacted him directly.
“If the criticisms were genuine they could have contacted me in person.Since I lead my life with sincerity, I’d have spoken one-on-1 with an individual I wanted to assist.”
On Sunday, Kohli equalled the record for the most fifty-fifty in T20Is played against Pakistan.Kohli scored his 32nd T20I fifty (60 off 44).Kohli scored his fourth half-century against Pakistan in T20Is.
He also scored half-century in a match against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match last year at the same location.
Kohli’s remarkable run against Pakistan is evident in his stats of the total of 406 runs in the match, which is the most of an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is at an average of 67.66 and an average strike rate of 119.06.
