Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, Nov 22 : .A Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha office-bearer (BJYM), Ashish Gupta was killed during celebratory firing at a wedding function in this area in the wee hours of Monday.Ajay Kumar Singh Mirzapur, Superintendent of Police, stated that Gupta went to Sarju Udyan, Katra Kotwali, for a wedding function on Sunday night.Some participants engaged in celebratory firing after the ‘baraat” (marriage procession reached the venue).
Gupta was shot in the stomach by bullets and was transported to a hospital division from which he was referred to BHU Varanasi.
He died during treatment.
The SP stated that further investigations were underway.
