Wellington, 22 Nov : .New Zealand’s new Covid-19 traffic signal system will be in place by December 3.
This allows businesses and events the opportunity to reopen for vaccinated Kiwis.Prime Minister Jacinda Adern announced Monday.Ardern announced that all of New Zealand will join the Covid-19 Protection Framework on December 2 at 11.59 pm.This will make December 3 the official start date for the traffic lights system.
This simplified framework has 3 levels, green, orange, and red.Each level will be granted greater liberty by vaccination certificates.
According to Xinhua, the prime minister stated that businesses considered high-risk will now be able to open their doors to vaccinated clients at orange and green, while allowing them to continue operating with restrictions at red.
Her statement also stated that any business that opens its doors to unvaccinated people will be subject to restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus to those who are most at risk.
“Setting the date early gives communities, individuals and businesses the time they need to plan to transition smoothly and safely into the new traffic lights system.”
The prime minister confirmed that the decision on which colour each region would move to will be made on November 29.This will give regions enough time for increased vaccination rates.
Red will be the entry point for Auckland.Other regions’ settings will depend on vaccination levels.Cabinet has confirmed, however that Green will not be the starting point for any other region while we transition and manage an outbreak.” she stated.
Ardern said that detailed sector guidance would be available later in the week to help businesses and other organizations see what they should do at every traffic light.

He also suggested that they download their Vaccine Pass.The key difference between the Alert Level System and the New Traffic Light System is the fact that vaccination passes will soon be needed at bars, restaurants, and gyms.
According to Ministry of Health, 91% of New Zealanders have received their first vaccine and 83% are currently fully vaccinated.
Ardern stated that the first trial of Vaccine Passes in Auckland will be held at barbers and hairdressers from the city’s largest, Auckland on Thursday.
This is to make sure the transition to the new system runs as smooth as possible over the next week.
She said that businesses participating in the trial should have Vaccine Passes and must only take bookings.
All staff members must also be fully vaccinated.
