Seoul, November 18th : .South Korea’s government will hold a formal conversation about whether or not to ban dog meat consumption following the suggestion of President Moon Jae In to reconsider this controversial practice.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the government would discuss how to continue social discussions about dog meat consumption in a Cabinet meeting.

It will be chaired by Kim Boo-kyum, Prime Minister.

Moon suggested that the country ban the consumption of dog food during a September meeting with Prime Minister.

South Koreans have a growing number of dogs, and there are still dog farms where certain breeds can be raised to become meat.

Moon, who lives with many dogs at the Presidential compound, is well-known for being a dog lover.

Animal rights activists claim that eating dogs in the United States is a national embarrassment.Dog meat advocates argue that people should be free to choose their own food.

South Korea’s Animal Protection Law was created primarily to stop the cruelty of cats and dogs, but it does not prohibit dog consumption.

Realmeter recently conducted a poll that showed 49% opposed to the banning of dog meats consumption.Only 38.6% supported the enactment of a ban on dog meat.
