The eyes of everyone were teary when they watched the heart-warming scenes of the reunion of brother and sister in Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Geo News reported.
Amarjit Singh arrived in Pakistan via the Wagah border with an invitation to visit his Muslim sister and remain in her company.
His sister 65 years old Kulsoom Akhtar, couldn’t keep her emotions in check following the sighting of Amarjit.
They hugged and continued to cry.She was on her way from her home in Faisalabad together with her son Shahzad Ahmed and other family members to visit her brother.
Kulsoom claimed that her parents emigrated to Pakistan from the suburbs of the Jalandhar region of India in 1947 and left behind a younger brother and one sister, Express Tribune reported.
Kulsoom stated that she was born in Pakistan and was accustomed to hearing about her lost brother and sister from her mother. She claimed that her mother would cry each time she thought of her children who were missing.
Kulsoom stated she believed that she didn’t think she could ever have the chance to visit her brothers or sister. However she did meet them a few years ago an acquaintance of her father Sardar Dara Singh came to Pakistan from India and also got to meet Kulsoom.
Kulsoom’s mom told Singh about her daughter and son she left behind in India. She also gave Singh the name of their village as well as the place of their home in the country that is adjacent to it.
Amarjit then went to her home in Padawan village of Jalandhar and informed her that her son was alive, however her daughter was dead.
Her son was given the name Amarjit Singh who was adopted by an Sikh family back in 1947, The Express Tribune reported.
After obtaining the brother’s contact information, Amarjit and Kulsoom Akhtar were contacted via WhatsApp and made contact via the Kartarpur Corridor and the meeting between the two siblings was real.

Kulsoom Akhtar was also unable to move due to back pain however she was brave and made it to Kartarpur from Faisalabad with with her son.The two siblings cried as they hugged one another and remembering their parents.
Amarjit told me that when he first discovered that his parents’ real names were in Pakistan and were Muslims it was a shock for him. But, he comforted his heart that many families were cut off from one another in along with his family. There were many Muslim children were converted to Sikhs, and many Sikh children changed their names to Muslims, Express Tribune reported.

Both siblings had brought gifts for each other.
Shahzad Ahmad, son of Kulsoom and Kulsoom, told me that he was able to get information about his uncle from both his mother and grandmother.
He stated that all of the siblings were young during the time of Partition and that no name was ever given to Amarjit or maybe after a long time the name had faded out of the mind.
“I am aware that since my uncle was raised by an Sikh family, he happens to be a Sikh which my family and I are fine with this,”” he added.
