Farmers are reaping the benefits of cultivating leafy vegetables.Leafy greens are cultivated in about two thousand acres in the district.
Especially in Veeraghattam, Wangara, Borja, Saravakota, Palakonda, Narasannapeta and other zones, farmers are showing interest in leafy vegetables.In the Veeraghattam zone, leafy vegetables are cultivated in about 200 acres in the villages of Buruga, Kottugummada, Gadagamma, Kimmi, Chalivendri, Chidimi, Veeraghattam and Venkampeta.
Farmers tend to cultivate these crops with low investment and high returns with little effort.Lettuce, gourd, spinach, fenugreek, mint and asparagus are mostly grown.
Horticulture officials say farmers can reap good returns along with quality yields if they take appropriate plant protection measures.

These crops can be grown in all seasons.Can withstand waterlogging and give quality yields.
Sandy loam, red and alluvial soils are suitable for these crops.Greens can be harvested in any 30 days.

Spraying five milliliters of neem oil in a liter of water to control caterpillar infestation will destroy the caterpillar eggs unexpectedly.
