The petition in which Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy sought exemption from personal appearance would also be heard on that date.

So far, the accused has filed seven bail petitions, but the court has rejected them all.His lawyer, Salim Abdus, said that he has once again moved the bail petition and asked the judge to conduct the case on a daily basis.

Earlier, several Dalit activists were taken into preventive custody on Monday night and in the early hours of Tuesday as they planned to stage a dharna at Gandhi statue near RTC Complex demanding the release of the accused in the case J.Srinivas on bail as he had spent five years in jail.

The accused in the Kodi Kathi case, Janupalli Srinivasa Rao (Srinu), was produced in the Visakhapatnam III Additional District Court on Tuesday after the Vijayawada NIA Court transferred the case to Visakhapatnam.

Srinu was transferred from Rajamahendravaram Jail to Visakhapatnam, where his family members also reached the court. An emotional Srinu’s mother appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to appear in court and give his statement for quick disposal of the case.

Srinu’s lawyer pleaded with the court to either grant bail to the accused or order Jagan to appear in court for a hearing in the case. The lawyer argued that there was no conspiracy in the case as mentioned by the NIA and that Srinu should be granted bail.

He also requested that Jagan either provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the court or attend the hearing in person.Srinu’s lawyer also raised concerns about the political motives behind the postponement of the case and alleged that the issue was being dragged to be used as a topic in the upcoming elections.
