Bhopal 1st, September : Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary Sajjan Singh Verma on Thursday criticised the party’s Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari over his comments regarding the procedure for deciding the president of the party.Verma declared Tewari an ‘untrustworthy person and accused him of damaging his own party.
Verma asked about the timing of the questions at a moment when the interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi’s mother passed away.to death. He was adamant about Tewari for saying that instead of sending condolences and a message of support to the leader of the party, he’s asking questions about her.’
“These kinds of activities aren’t generating unity in the party, but providing an opportunity for the BJP to take on the Congress. If one wishes to run for elections for positions in the party, one must collect an election form from either the national or state party headwaters, so why should one make such statements. This indicates that Tewari only wants a job in the party, and only that,” Verma said while speaking to IANS on Thursday.
Verma stated that Tewari gained from the Congress throughout his entire life.”There is no issue in asking questions. But, putting it out in the open on social media , and at an time when Sonia Gandhi lost her mother.Instead of offering condolences, he is questioning her,” he added.
Verma said these comments one day after Tewari in the form of a string of tweets published on Wednesday raised concerns about the electoral process in the Congress days after the party announced the date for the elections of the party’s president.
The day before, Tewari raised questions through a series of tweets, asking “How can we have an open and fair election without a publically accessible electoral roll? The essence of an honest and free procedure is the names and addresses of voters, which should be posted on the INCIndia website in an open manner.”
“Why should a person have to go to each PCC office in the country to determine who the electors are? This isn’t the case in the club elections, either. In the interest of transparency and fairness I encourage you to publish the complete list of electors on the Congress website.
How can someone even consider running if he/she doesn’t know the name of the voters. If someone must submit a nomination and have it approved by 10 Congress individuals as necessary, CEA can reject it because they aren’t valid electors.” Tewari said.
