Thiruvananthapuram on August 27 : After protests about girls being made to take off their clothing at the NEET examination center in the state of Kerala in Kollam The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to allow affected medical aspirants to return to take the exam in September if they wish.4.The latest incident has caused a major outrage with the Kerala Police arresting seven persons in connection with the incident.The seven were later released under bail shortly after.
The parents of the girls had spoken out against the “inhuman act” by the invigilators, who said their daughters were “devastated” which affected their performance.
In the aftermath the three-member team of officials of NEET conducted an investigation into the incident.
They also submitted an investigation into the psychological trauma the girls went through.
Based on the findings that was compiled, the testing authorities opted to conduct a re-examination for the girls affected who wish to do so at an additional center in Kollam district.
The people arrested at the time included the Mar Thoma institute of IT’s Vice-Principal ( the college where the test was conducted last month) and NEET Exam Centre Superintendent Priji Kurian Issac, and NTA observers Dr Shamnad.
Two women employees of the college as well as three other employees of the testing organization The testing agency Star Training Academy were also among those who were detained.
They were accused in violation of IPC’s Section 354 (assault or threatening force on an individual with the intention of causing offence to her modesty) and Section 509 (word gesture, word or act that is intended to offend the modesty of woman).
