Hyderabad 23 August : A Hyderabad court has granted bail on Tuesday to BJP MLA Raja Singh who was arrested earlier in the day for making derogatory comments against the Prophet Muhammad.
Raja Singh, who was arrested on Tuesday morning, was given the order to be released under bail only two of hours later he was sent to the judicial custody.

The 14th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate ordered the BJP leader to cooperate with the police in the investigation into the case.

Raja Singh was produced at the Nampally Criminal Court amid tight security and tension due to protests from the supporters of him and those who are opposed to his supporters.

Police used baton charge to disperse two groups that were chanting slogans in opposition to each one.

When the court sent the BJP MLA to the judicial custody, his lawyer requested a bail application.He said that the police did not abide with the requirements of Section 41 of Criminal Procedure Code.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rescinded the remand decision and issued bail to Raja Singh.He was released with a personal bond of the amount of Rs.20,000.

The counsel for Raja Singh informed reporters in the outside of the court that the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections that Raja Singh was arrested provide the possibility of a sentence of under seven years.He claimed before the court that the police did not follow the guidelines adopted by the Supreme Court in such cases.

The Member of Telangana Assembly was arrested on Tuesday morning following huge protests from Muslims at various locations in Hyderabad calling for urgent and immediate action against him.

The police filed criminal instances against Raja Singh at various police stations in Hyderabad and other regions of Telangana.At the Mangalhat police station he was arrested in the IPC Section 153-A (promoting hatred between various groups on account of religion) 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts designed to irritate religious sentiments of any group by slandering its religious beliefs or religion) 505 (2) (making or publishing or disseminating any publication or document that contains information or rumours with intention to create or encourage feelings of hatred and enmity) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The MLA also was detained in the Bahadurpura, Dabeerpura and Balanagar police stations in Hyderabad and in Sangareddy and Nizamabad districts.

Raja Singh on Monday night posted an image on Facebook making derogatory remarks about the Prophet, which triggered an outrage in the public.

Scores of Muslims protesters gathered at the office of the police commissioner as well as at various police stations in the evening of Monday.

The protesters demanded action immediately against Raja Singh.A few of protesters were taken into pre-trial detention and taken to different police stations.

Protests took place in Bahadurpura, Bhavani Nagar, Nampally, Dabeerpura and other areas.The leaders of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) filed grievances against the BJP MLA in various police stations including Dabeerpura police station.

Raja Singh was taken into preventive custody on Saturday for threat to disrupt stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui’s comedy show.The event was staged in strict security.

The BJP MLA, who accused the comedian of insulting Hindu gods and posted a video on Facebook on Monday night claiming it was a comedy video similar to Faruqui’s comedy.The post was then deleted.

Raja Singh, who allegedly repeated the sexist remarks made against the Prophet by the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, has denied that he offended the opinions of anyone in any group.He claimed it was a comedy clip directed at Faruqui.

In a serious review of Raja Singh’s conduct The BJP today suspended him.They also issued the party with a showcause notice, asking for explanations as to the reason he shouldn’t be expelled from the party.

In the wake of the protests police increased security in Hyderabad and in other areas of the state as precautionary measures.Additional police were deployed, while the police increased patrolling in the most vulnerable areas to ensure that no untoward incident occurs.

In the meantime traders in various areas of the city’s old part as well as in Nampally, Mallepally and other areas shut their shutters in protest of actions against the MLA.

The opening of the new flyover in Chandrayangutta was also delayed.
