Amul increases milk prices by 2 rupees per 1 litre

Anand 16 August : Kaira District Cooperative milk Producers Union’s (Amul Dairy) has increased milk prices by 2 rupees per litre starting Wednesday (August 17).
In an announcement, Amul Dairy said in Gujarat Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, West Bengal and West Bengal, it’s Taza milk 500 milliliters will cost the price of Rs 25.

Shakti 500ml pouch will cost Rs 28 and Gold at Rs 31.Two rupees per litre is increased for three different ranges of milk.”

According to Amul the increase is only an increase of four percent in cost and less than the inflation of food.

In support of the increase in price, Amul said production and operational cost of milk have increased.

Comparatively to last year, cattle’s cost of food has increased by 20 percent and, as a result, Amul and other dairy members of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation have increased the rate of procurement by 8 to 9 percent so that pastoralists are able to pay for their expenses.

Amul says 80 paise from each rupee recovered from its customers is passed on to farmers/pastoralists.
