Noting “huge fraud in the implementation of the Delhi excise policy of the government,” the BJP President declared that every government policy is to be implemented in conformity with the law.

“He (Delhi CM) must explain his position to the investigators as well as the court,” Nadda told the media.

On the 19th of August the CBI had conducted a raid on Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s home in connection with the allegations of violations in Delhi’s excise law.

Sisodia was just one of the names listed in the CBI FIR filed in relation with the investigation.

The Union Home Ministry last week suspended Arava Gopi Krishna (IAS) who was the excise commissioner in the past as well as the excise commissioner’s deputy Anand Kumar Tiwari, after their names came up in the CBI investigation into allegations of violations in Delhi’s excise law (2021-22).

The recent excise policy of the Delhi government was slammed by opposition parties as well as industry experts due to a variety of reasons.

In the course of this policy, retail licenses were granted to private bidders for 849 vends throughout the city. The citizens of Delhi were faced with the issue of a lack of the liquor of their choice because there was a shortage at numerous outlets across the city.

There are only 460 outlets currently operating in Delhi, the capital of India with a minimum of 85 outlets to serve its citizens. In protest of the policy, the opposition had filed grievances with the Lieutenant Governor, in addition to soliciting Central authorities to launch an investigation into the matter.
