Lucknow : , Nov 21, 2011 – The Ganga Expressway Project in Uttar Pradesh received environmental clearance.This will allow for construction of the expressway, which is being called the longest in India.A spokesperson for the government stated that the State Level Environment Impact Authority granted environmental clearance for Ganga Expressway’s 594 km project.The tendering process for this project has begun.
It is estimated that the project will cost Rs 36,230 crore.The project will use PPP construction and has been open for tenders to design, finance, manage, and transfer.
From the Meerut–Bulandshahr highway, the expressway will begin at Bijauli Village in Meerut and finish at Prayagraj bypass close to Joodapur Dandu Village in Prayagraj.
The project will be extended to 12 districts: Meerut and Hapur as well as Amroha, Sambhal and Badaun.
It will have six lanes and be expandable up to eight.We have already acquired 94% of the land needed for this project.
A spokesperson for the government stated that it is expected that approximately 12,000 people will be employed temporarily during construction, while 1,000 will work during construction of toll plazas along this stretch.
