Union Home Minister Nithyananda Roy has made it clear that Amravati is the capital of AP.He was responding to a question posed by MP GVL.It is well known that Parliamentary sessions are ongoing.At a meeting on Wednesday, February 02, 2022, MP GV asked the Center a number of questions regarding Andhra Pradesh’s capital.
He said there was ambiguity over the capital and the actual capital was something unknown after the government withdrew the three capital bills.
MP GVL questioned who should decide on the capital.
The Center has made it clear that the decision on the capital belongs to the state.They explained that they were first informed that the capital of Andhra Pradesh was then the capital of Amravati and then in 2020 it was made into 3 capitals.
Visakhapatnam is the administrative capital, Kurnool is the judicial capital and Amravati is the legislative capital.According to the information available to them, the current capital of Andhra Pradesh is Amravati, said Union Home Minister Nithyananda Roy.
CM Jagan took a key decision at the recent AP assembly meetings.CM Jagan said that we are withdrawing the 3 Capitals Bill to safeguard the interests of the people in a broader manner.
It was clarified that the House will bring forward a new bill with even better proposals.To elaborate on the good intentions of the Government in the Bills relating to the three capitals, to incorporate all the answers, into the Bill itself, to further enhance the Bill, to make it more widely known to all regions, and to include them if any further changes are required, the Government withdraws the Bill which has already been introduced and takes into account all the points already made.
CM Jagan said the decision was taken to safeguard the wider and wider public interest.
