San Francisco, Aug 21 : The online delivery platform DoorDash has decided to end the collaboration with Walmart the retailer, which offered the service of delivering groceries and other items from the retailer chain to consumers for more than four years, reports in the media claimed.A person familiar with the matter told the source that DoorDash has notified Walmart of its decision earlier in the month, noting that the relationship “was not mutually beneficial” and that it wanted to “focus on long-term relationships with customers,” according to Insider, The Verge reported.
DoorDash has reportedly given Walmart a 30-day notice, meaning that the relationship will end in September.
The two firms first came together in the year 2018 when Walmart began to test the possibility of having groceries purchased through its website delivered via DoorDash.
It was first launched in Atlanta, Georgia, initially but has since expanded to other states.
“We have reached an agreement to break off with DoorDash,” Walmart spokesperson Leigh Stidham was quoted as saying in an email message to customers.
“We want to express our gratitude to DoorDash for their partnership and the support of our customers over the last few years,” it said.
It’s unclear if DoorDash will deliver to Walmart through its app however.
DoorDash currently doesn’t allow customers to place orders through Walmart likely to avoid any conflict with the service it provides via Walmart’s website.Its competitor Instacart On the other hand, allows same-day delivery service from Walmart in certain areas.
