Srinagar : , Two terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Toiba terror group were shot dead by security personnel on Saturday in Chowgam, south Kashmir’s Shopian area.Officials with Jammu & Kashmir Police said.
According to the police, the operation began after receiving specific information about terrorists at Chowgam Village in Shopian.
They were allowed ample time to surrender during the search operation as they became aware of the terrorist presence.
They refused to surrender, and fired on the joint search team indiscriminately.This led to an encounter,” police stated.
Two terrorists were shot dead and bodies were recovered from the scene.
These two men were identified as Sajad Ahmad Khak (a resident in Braripora, Shopian) and Raja Basit Yaqoob (a resident in Achan Litter, Pulwama).
According to police records, both terrorists killed were classified terrorists and linked with LeT terror group.They also were involved in numerous terror-related cases.The police also stated that Sajad, the terrorist who was killed, had been instrumental in recruiting and motivating youths to join terror groups.”
They were found with incriminating material, ammunition and arms, which included two AK-series rifles and four AK magazines, and 32 rounds.
