In reality, Pakistan has a deceitful attitude toward minorities. The oppressive mindset/system has not been kind to minorities, despite all its efforts towards economic progress and prosperity.

Sikhs and Hindus are considered infidels, and the persecution of them is like charity for Islamic fundamentalists.

The status of historical gurdwaras of Pakistan are being managed by the Pakistan Shiromani Gurdwara Parabandhak Committee (PSGPC).

This committee does not have any authority on religious matters of Sikhs. This committee is claimed to have been created on the basis of the Shiromani Gudwara Parbandhak Commission of India, which has status/stature like a state.

However, in fact the PSGPC works under the control of the Muslim-oriented Evacuee Trust Property Board.ETPB was established as a constitution body by the Act (Management and Settlement No.XIII was established in 1975 by the Nehru-Liaquat Agreement of 1950 and the Pant Mirza Agreement of 1955, which protects the rights of Hindu Sikhs.

The India-Pakistan Agreement stated that the ETPB chairman should be either a Hindu or Sikh.

However, Pakistan never followed through on this pretext, claiming that no non Muslim can take responsibility for such an important body within an Islamic country. The Supreme Court of Pakistan didn’t implement an order to appoint either a Hindu or Sikh chairman of the board.

The meeting was attended by all members, including KhushiRam, Gurpal Singh, and KhushiRam.No unilateral decisions were made.

Since its creation, the board was under Pakistan’s ISI command.Tarak Wazir, Imran Gokal and others, are still able to make all the decisions on the board.

How has the Muslim-oriented board benefited Sikhs so far? Sikhs and Hindus abandoned more than 1130 Hindu temples, and 517 Gurdwaras during partition. The ETPB has only opened 30 temples and 17 other gurdwaras.

Except for certain Gurudwaras such as Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore and Gurudwara Singh and Singhania Gurudwara Nine Lakh Bazar Lahore Gurudwara Mall Ji Sahib Gurudwara Tambu Sahib and Gurudwara Tambu Sahib and Gurudwara Tambu Sahib dedicated to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Kartarpur Sahib Hassan Abdal and Guru Bhai Joga Singh and Guru Bha Joga Singh and Guru Bha Joga Singh and Guru Baba Bid Ji Peshawar.

Prakash is not performed in Gurdwara Kiara Sahib and GurdwaraPatti Sahib.Gurdwara Chakki Sahib has been closed.Guru Khuh Bhai Lalo, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda has been shut down.

Gurdwara Bebe Nanaki (land valued at 800 crore PKR), is also under the Waqf Board’s control. It was destroyed in a terrible case four years ago.The land that was Gurudwara Nankana Sahib’s half has been sold. The centuries-old Nanak Mahal, a four-storey structure in Narowal was demolished in May 2019.

Its expensive windows and doors were also sold.Built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha MahlaMandi Sahiwal has now been made into a prison.

Gurdwara Karam Sing Ahluwalia, located on the banks the Jhelum’s river Jhelum, was previously a police station. It is currently being renovated with foreign funds.

Similar to Gurdwara Bhai Lalo Ji, Gurdwara Baba Jamiat Singh, and Guudwara Patshahi Chovi (Amar Sidhu), alleged places where saints lived or gave sermons, which are in rural areas, are inhabited either by the locals, their livestock is tied up, but ETPB never attempted to evacuate these gurdwaras. The extremists have broken three statues of Maharaja Ranjit Sing, 9 feet tall, at Lahore Imperial Fort.

This shows the importance of Sikhs to Pakistan.According to statistics, 46,499 acres are built up urban units belonging to temples or gurdwaras, and around 109404 acres is agricultural land.

In reality, the PGPC is a ‘dummy committee’ because it does not have any authority to make decisions about Sikh religious issues in Pakistan.Sikh Sangats around the world and Sikh organizations worldwide celebrate “Gurpurab”, according to the Akal Takht, Shiromani Committee approved Nanakshahi’s calendar.

However, Gurpurab in Pakistan is being observed by government orders, which have been rejected by the Akal Takht, the highest shrine of Sikhs.Pakistan Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee also has low salaries (18,000 PKR), and they are largely made up of Muslims (70%).

As drugs and smoking are quite common within the Gurdwara board offices, the Sikhs who are actually there aren’t required to be on duty.A Punjabi Sikh Sangat oversees Akhand Path Sahib’s management in Pakistan’s Gurdwaras. It also solicits foreign donations.

Anyone who speaks out for Sikh rights will be deliberately marginalized.

Extremists even pushed for the denial of Sikh Marriage Act 2007.

All the matters are decided by ETPB and PSGPC.

PSGPC has been suppressed so that they are unable to have any say in Sikh matters.Pakistan has formed this committee/governmental body to govern Gurudwaras with the sole intent to showcase to the world that they possess a soft corner for the Sikh minority and are true saviours of Sikhism.

In reality Pakistan won’t allow any of these committees to have independent rights or speak on behalf of their communities. All religious organizations were forced to operate under Muslim rule.
