New Delhi, November 18, 2018 : .India deployed a Naval Ship in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman in order to facilitate trade and instill confidence within the maritime community.
This will also contribute to maritime security in the region.
The Indian Navy stated that INS Trikand was currently in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and as part of Operation Sankalp.
This is the Indian Navy’s attempt to keep a forward-line ship in this region in order to protect trade.
On November 13, the ship arrived in Manama (Bahrain) for a three day operational turn around (OTR).
The ship spent her time at port engaging extensively with maritime security agencies in order to improve cooperation on all aspects maritime security including training, and other topics that could be mutually beneficial.
On November 15, Captain Harish Bahuguna (Commanding Officer, INS Trikand) visited the headquarters of the Combined Maritime Forces in Bahrain and met with Commodore Edward Ahlgren, Deputy Commander, CMF.
The ship was able to stop by the US Coast Guard’s Visit board Search and Seizure facility (VBSS), titled ‘Ship in a Box.
The naval force stated that it also allowed a better understanding and application of training methods of maritime forces.It also gave the ship’s crew the opportunity to communicate with Task Force (TF59 – unmanned force), which is an experimental unit within a specific domain.
Piyush Srivastava was also present at INS Trikand’s Commanding Officer.
He expressed deep appreciation for the contribution of Indian Navy through ship visits to further bilateral relations and enhance maritime security in the area.
INS Trikand, a guided missile stealth frigate, is part of the Western Fleet, which operates under Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command.It is based in Mumbai.
