CM Jagan inaugurates 7.43 lakh new houses at Jagananna Colony

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has inaugurated the Jagananna Colony on the Samarlakota-Prattipadu road in Kakinada district and actively participated in the mass housewarming ceremony of 7.43 lakh houses under the flagship Navaratnalu-Pedalandriki Illu scheme.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government that aims to fulfil the dream of poor women to own homes distributed 30.75 lakh house sites to them across the state, in which construction of 21.76 lakh houses were done as part of the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of neglecting the welfare of the poor during his tenure.

CM Jagan mentioned that even in Kuppam, Naidu’s own constituency, the poor did not receive any land or housing.He highlighted that when the YSRCP government came into power, 20,000 houses were allocated in Kuppam.

Officials said the YSRCP government distributed 30.75 lakh free house site pattas to women, in which construction work was initiated on 21.76 lakh houses.At present, 7.43 lakh houses have completed the construction and are being handed over to the beneficiaries.The rest of the houses’ construction is progressing at a brisk pace.

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh said the state government is constructing not just houses, but habitations, colonies and new towns.He explained, “Fulfilling the dream of owning a house to poor women, 30.75 lakh house sites were distributed in 17,005 YSR-Jagananna Colony layouts, in a total area of 71,811 acres.
