Swiggy offers no-cost training on skills to gig workers, their children

Bengaluru 13th of September : Food delivery platform Swiggy on Tuesday announced a skills initiative to provide free education opportunities for hundreds of thousands of delivery managers and their kids.
Swiggy has joined forces with Khan Academy, a non-profit educational organization that offers classes and certificates through its “Skills Academy”.

The company also collaborated with Google to utilize Read Along, a speech-based reading tool that can help kids of the delivery partner improve their reading abilities.

“With Swiggy Skills, we have taken an important step in meeting our obligation to our executive team with the goal of creating an opportunity for their development and growth,” said Girish Menon the Director of Human Resources at Swiggy.

The academy will provide courses on topics that are not functional, such as spoken English time management hygiene and dressing computers as well as personal finance and mental health and well-being.

Up to 30,000 children and their young siblings as well as nieces and nephews of delivery partners are able to choose to receive educational assistance via Swiggy Skills Academy, said the company.

In the very first days of the launch, more than 24,000 kids have already registered with the Swiggy Skills Academy.
