“Will issue QR code-based ID cards’: Madhusudan mistry on Congress MPs in a letter regarding presidential elections

New Delhi, Sep 10 : Five Congress lawmakers addressed AICC Central Election Authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry seeking transparency in the party’s presidential elections scheduled for October 17th.Mistry announced on Saturday for the first-time identity cards based on QR codes are being issued to all representatives from the states of 28 and nine Union Territories.
In a letter to Congress MPs, which included Shashi Tharoor Manish Tewari Karti Chidambaram Pradyut Bordoloi, and Abdul Khaleque who addressed the chairman of the central authority for elections, Mistry said, “For the first time, we’re issuing QR-code-based identities to all delegated in the nine states, as well as the other 28 Union Territories that have Congress committees.Anyone who wants to submit nominations should ensure that they have a delegate identification card with them.Only those with current identity cards are allowed to sign nomination papers for the office of Congress President.”

While recognizing the importance of a fair, free and transparent elections, Mistry said that the first avenue for any delegate who wants to file a nomination for Congress President’s office is to search at the names of the 10 supporters (delegates) in their state at the Pradesh Congress Committee office.

“The name and serial number are both available in the state register.The nomination that is signed by 10 of the supporters (delegates) is sufficient to establish the validity of the nomination” Mistry said.

“If anyone wishes to seek nominations from 10 supporters from different states The list of all 9,000+ delegate is available in my office in AICC Delhi on September 20 (11 am until 6 pm) prior to filing their nominations on September 24.You can go and pick the 10 people who will support them (delegates) from the list, and then get their signatures to nominate them,” Mistry wrote in the letter.

Mistry said the process would eliminate the fear of the filing of nominations with no knowledge of the names of the delegate.

“I hope this will satisfy the requirements of you and your coworkers who signed this letter,” Mistry concluded.
