Thiruvananthapuram : , Sunday, November 21 : .Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan thanked the Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gankari for approving the six-lane NH-66 route from Kodungallur, Edapally to Edapally.This will cover the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam and cost Rs 3,465.85 million.
These six lanings are part of Bharatmala Paraiyojana Initiative, which is a highway construction project executed by the State government under Central government.
Vijayan tweeted, “Thank You@nitin_gadkari Ji Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport Highways, Govt of India, for authorizing 6-Laning works from Kodungallur (Old 17), NH-66(Old 17,) with a budget of R 3465.85 Cr on HAM under Bharamala Paraiyojana.”
Vijayan previously stated in a Facebook post that 600km of roads from Talapady, Kasargod District to Karode in Thiruvananthapuram will be six lanes as part of this project.
Kerala Chief Minister also stated that 25 percent of land acquisition expenses would be borne by the state.Landowners will receive the highest compensation according to the Land Acquisition Act 2013.
He also indicated that Kerala’s road traffic would improve with six-lane NH-66.
