GMR Group to invest in Metro rail-Shamshabad Airport link

The Telangana state government is giving high priority to connecting Shamshabad International Airport with the Metro.

It has decided to undertake a high-speed metro rail project and has already prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

As a continuation of the Rayadurg (Mindspace Junction) Metro Station in the IT Corridor, the High-Speed ​​Airport Metro Rail Project will be constructed up to the Shamshabad Airport for a length of about 31 km.The estimated cost of this project is around Rs 5,000 crore.The Telangana state government has been in talks with GMR, a public utility company that operates the Shamshabad International Airport, to build an Airport-Metro link.

It seems they are willing to invest 10 per cent of their stake in this project.GMR firm intends to link the airport with the metro rail sector, which is expected to further benefit the aviation sector.
