New Delhi, Sep 10 : While the growth rate of fisheries in the past two years was a rise of 14.3 percent from 2019-20 to 2021-22.the fish production hit an all-time record of 141.64 lakh tonnes in 2019-20 and 161.87 lakh tonnes in 2021-22.
In the same way in exports the record-breaking exports of 13.64 lakh tonnes, worth the sum of Rs 57,587 crore ($7.76 billion) mostly due to exports of shrimps was achieved.

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yajana (PMMSY) achieved its second anniversary the weekend.

To enhance the infrastructure for fisheries and increase the production of fish As of today there are a total of 19 fishing harbours and landing centres were approved to the amount of the amount of 912.03 crore.

Through the PMMSY It is anticipated that 68 lakh jobs will be created by the date of 2024-25.

So so far, PMMSY has supported 31.47 million farmers covered by insurance from seven UTs and 22 states and an additional 6.77 thousands of farmers have received nutrition and livelihood support during the lean/ban periods.

The Ministry stated that to meet the short-term and working capital requirements of the industry the government is extending the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to Fishers, Fish Farmers, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups, Women Groups and others.

As of January 20, 2022 the total of 6,35,783 applications had been submitted, and a sum of 1,04,179 lakh was approved.
